Over 30 million Americans* suffer from Eczema, an inflammation of the skin that causes dryness, itching, redness, sleep deprivation and a host of other adverse effects.

JOURNEY

Meet Aidan

Eczema can affect any part of the body, and all aspects of life for an entire family - especially for a child. Days after Aidan was born, he developed a painful inflammation on the top of his head; it soon appeared all over his body in welts, hives and dry skin. As Aidan grew, his Atopic Dermatitis, a severe form of Eczema, progressively worsened.

His parents and doctors tried to manage the symptoms with creams, topical steroids and immunosuppressants – leaving Aidan frail without any signs of improvement. Most days, Aidan's skin was so dry that his parents couldn't lift him – his skin was raw, vulnerable and patched with blood. Aidan couldn't attend school, let alone play with friends. But then, Aidan discovered Avène.

3 Year Treatment

Road to Recovery

Aidan's prescription at the Avène Hydrotherapy Center consisted of baths, underwater massages and body wraps to calm inflammation and itching while soothing and comforting his skin.

Although his treatment has been completed, Aidan now manages his flare-ups with a regimen of Avène products at home. To his mother, who's been by Aidan's side for every sleepless night and every trip to Avène, his results are nothing short of remarkable. Now Aidan's worst days are better than his best five years ago.

On top of battling flare-ups, which left Carissa's skin raw and irritated, she also had to fight emotional insecurities that come with Eczema.
