A HAVEN OF PEACE FOR SENSITIVE SKIN

The Hydrotherapy Center

Each patient's three-week-long therapy session consists of dermatological appointments with a physician, baths, showers and many other hydro treatments using water drawn directly from the Spring. The Hydrotherapy Center has developed educational programs to assist patients in understanding their skin condition better and therefore optimizing the treatment benefits.

THE SCIENTIFIC HUB OF THE SPRING SITE

The Water Research Center

The Water Research Center is an institution active in the fields of geology, hydrogeology, physicial chemistry, microbiology and molecular and cellular biology. Its multiple disciplines allow for a better understanding of the Avène Thermal Spring, its origins and its mode of action. As a result, the research contributes to the clinical studies conducted at the Hydrotherapy Center.

Improving Quality of Life

Dermatological Treatments

Treatments are prescribed by an on-site dermatologist and provided by physiotherapists, nurses, hydrotherapists and hydro-estheticians. Hydrotherapy Center patients are prescribed a daily treatment, every day for 3 weeks, including: showers, baths, localized treatments, body wraps along with at-home maintenance for overall improvement in quality-of-life.

Certified Hydrotherapy

The first hydrotherapy center dedicated exclusively to dermatology to receive the "Aquacert HACCP Thermalisme" certification which guarantees compliance with good hydrotherapy practices in terms of quality and healthy safety, including water microbiology. Aquacert HACCP Thermalisme is valid for three years and an audit is required before each renewal.

Personalized treatments, always supervised by a dermatologist, use topical applications of Avène Thermal Spring Water:

  • Showers and sprays
  • Filiform showers
  • Underwater massage
  • Body or scalp wraps
  • Thermal Spring Water compresses
  • Drinking the water

The hydrotherapy center has developed an educational program consisting of workshops, support groups monitored by clinical psychologists, and conferences with themes inspired by patient's daily experiences. Workshop themes include:.

  • Skincare application in children
  • Introduction to meditation
  • Medical Make-up
  • Post-cancer Make-up
  • Post-cancer Exercise

Its been such an honor to meet so many incredible patients here: children, women of my age, women and men older than me and everyone has a different experience. But the quote is always the same: all have found peace and were not looking for a cure. We're just completely trusting our faith that we are going to leave Avène better than we arrived.

- Shirin Tinati

Avène Thermal Spring Water has been soothing sensitive skin since the late 18th century, when its curative properties were originally discovered.

The force at which skin conditions impact quality of life is tremendous and sometimes it can seem like there is no end in sight. But for those who have lost their spirit to a skin condition, there is hope yet.
